March Madness
Posted On 03-19-2010 , 6:16 PM
It's March Madness!!
I'm sorry Basketball is all I can think about right now.
I enjoy coaching this team game so much, I try to catch every game I can just to see the coaching that goes on. So, many upsets so far this year I thought I would just give golf a break and talk just a little about b-ball.
One observation so far in the NCAA tournament is that when a favored team is
down in the ball game. It is really obvious that the coaches are making a
defensive adjustment to get the team sparked. If they can turn up the defensive
pressure and cause some turnovers quickly, the offense seems to come back. But, it
is all triggered by the defense.
So, remember that coaches. When the offense isn't there. Change defensive
stragtegies or the defensive intensity, and good offensive things will happen.
It get's the players off their scoring drought and focused on the game, focused on
the team, and not their own downers going on.
One officials observation too. Watch the post players in some of these games.
It seems they are moving or not even establishing a pivot foot on a lot of the moves
to the basket. But, in many cases they are not getting called for traveling. It
looks like they want to see more action, and are allowing more loose calls on
traveling. |
 |
Well, I don't want to take too much time on basketball. But it is that time of year. Hope your bracket is doing well. Mine is not.
But the Badgers are still in it. Barely.
Golf is right around the corner. I actually golf yesterday, March 18th, in northern Wisconsin.
But courses will not be open for good, for a while.

Golf Season Preparation Tip #2

Golf Season Preparation Tip #2
After you have your goals decided, it's time to start getting the body and mind ready for the season.
Start the season off right. Prepare mentally first. Be positive about your expectations for the year.
Begin reading a little more, or watching a little more on TV to get the brain thinking about golf.
When you are day dreaming, play shots in your mind. Picture your routine, your swing, visualize your shots, and visualize all you can about playing a round of golf. Your mind is very powerfull, and any consistant thought processes can have a dramatice effect on your ability to perform when you actually play.
Evaluate your current physical condition.
Are you in good enough shape to take the twisting, and turning,
and walking that a full season of golf demands.
How's your strength?
Are your hands and forearms strong enough?
Or, could you use a little strength training, too.
How's your cardiovascular stamina?
Are your legs ready for the season?
Don't forget your flexability.
Begin short periods of stretching exercises. Especially, your
shoulders, waist, and hamstrings. Work up to stretching twice a day.
|
 |
All these physical considerations are very important and will affect your mental game, as well.
If you are not ready physically, you will experience fatigue, and sometimes not even realize it. When
that happens your muscles don't respond the same, which throws off your timing, which causes doubt, which causes poor shots, which affects your scores and your attitude. So, it comes right back to the mental side of the game
Probably the most over-looked physical aspect is the legs. You must continue to keep your legs in good shape. Walking, riding a bike, using a treadmill are all good ways to keep your legs in tune. If you don't keep them in tune, you are weakening the foundation of your golf swing. You must have a good foundation to be able to move through the ball, to keep good timing, and not become fatigued throughout your rounds of golf.
When your legs are too weak;
- your upper body outraces lower body
- you start pulling your shots
- you start hitting them fat
- you start sliding back and forth trying to do too much
- you may start lunging at the ball
- you may even start swinging faster
- you may slice the ball much more

So, Get ready mentally and physically! Start now! Prepare for a good golf season.

With a little planning and organization we can enjoy a full year of playing with our friends, some friendly competition, some bigger competition, or relaxing and enjoying the beauty that the great outdoors can bring.
Maybe it's quality time with your spouse or children, or maybe even business

Golf Season: Starts for me every Jan. 1st. When does it start for you?
Preparation Tip #1 :
Review last years golf season -
How did you play overall? Did you play as well, as you would have liked?
How are you measuring your success? What is your basis: scores?, handicap improvement?
enjoyment level? less broken clubs? etc.
You have to decide and evaluate for yourself and set some clear goals, and or approaches to accomplishing them. You are given the gift of CHOICES every single day. You get to decide your attitude and demeanor for the day when you get out of bed each day.
So, do it! Then make the choice of getting better at golf, or enjoying golf, or whatever
it is you want out of golf. But, do it! Make the decisions, and make the goals: NOW!
No one else can do it for you.
It doesn't take a whole lot to accomplish what you want. But, it does take a conscious thought, decision, and effort.
Let's do it together. Let us help here at discountgolfstuff.com.
Failing to Prepare -- is preparing to Fail.

Wayne, the Graffaloy Axis is the stock shaft of the Adams Speedline and the 60 stands for the gram weight.
Honestly if I were to fit you for a shaft I would need some more details of your swing and desired ball flight
but for this driver that shaft works very well. Thanks. Andy.
