You've been playing golf since you were a kid and just don't think it really matters what type of golf ball you play. You find them in the ponds and woods all the time, so they are good enough.

Balls come in a lot of varieties. Dimple size, dimple pattern, materials, and construction of the golf ball all make a difference. I know what you’re saying, "It isn't going to make that much difference in my game." I've heard it all before at my club. Well you'd be surprised.

Golf balls lose there; let's call it (energy), over a period of time, from overuse in playing, from left in ponds, left in cold temperatures, (frozen) etc. PGA golf professionals don't just change their golf balls every few holes because they are getting them for Free. They do so, because the little nicks and scuff marks, and the pounding the core of the golf ball takes, reduces the effectiveness of the golf ball. They will lose distance and accuracy because of reduced or gained spin. Thus control, trajectory and distance will be affected. And so will yours!

If you hit the ball a good distance now, but don't seem to putt and chip as well as you'd like. Try a ball with more accuracy benefits, and spin control. This ball will seem softer and you'll like putting and scoring better.

If you need more distance, try a ball with less spin characteristics. You'll get a higher launch and allow for more carry in the air. You should get a little more roll also.

Now the differences may not seem like a lot to begin with. But, you'll learn that you can score and enjoy the game a little more with a little more attention to the type of ball you find to be better for your game. Remember the game is not HOW, it is HOW MANY!
