Driving down the road in the spring around here it seems that everyone has a boat behind the vehicle they're driving. Most would be pulling fishing boats. But boats are also being pulled to do a variety of water sports. Boating can mean yachting or Jon boating around the pond.
Regardless, it can be enjoyed by anyone, and it seems that it is.
Many boats are used for fishing. Years ago rowboats were around but they seem to be a thing of the past, but that's what I grew up fishing from. An old wooden row boat and a seat cushion and I was off fishing down the shore from our summer cottage. Most smaller boats today would have a small horsepower outboard motor or trolling motor attached to the back of it.
Boating and boating equipment has come a long way since then. Modern technology certainly has allowed boating to enter an age of speed and comfort along with usefulness. Whether you are fishing or duck hunting or just cruising on a pontoon boat you can do them all with great equipment and success in the market today.
Speedboats are faster than ever. Boat engines have come a long way. Boating today involves all kinds of water sports including: water skiing, wakeboarding, tubing, sailing, fishing, and more. Just getting out on the open water and getting the breeze in your hair makes working for the weekend all worth it.
If you're like me I enjoy the smells of being out on the water. Even the smell of the gas from the engine gives me a relaxing sensation.
What ever your situation, you owe it to yourself to try and spend some time on the water this year. You don't need every piece of boating equipment, but start out and give it a try. You'll be glad you did.
